Stress the hidden problem

Are you sure you’re not stressed?

Things to do daily that stop its impact on you!

We are not built to be under stress all day, every day, all year round.  Sadly this is what happens living in our modern western world and may be whay so many Australian’s aspire towards a grey nomad lifestyle in later years.

List of useful de-stress tools

If one or more of these are performed on a daily basis you will counter the effects of daily stress on the body.  Long term stress shows up as distinct biochemical and physical changes.

So what can you do at home all the time to help manage stress

  1. Take 10 minutes before going to sleep and do a breathing exercise in bed, lie on your back and breath in slowly counting to four and then breath out slowly counting to four.

  2. Eat magnesium rich foods – Almonds, Cashews, Cacao, Brewers yeast, Mineral Water, Kelp, eggs and Seeds.

  3. Start switching off before bed, an hour before turn down the lighting, turn off the TV, read something light.  The aim is to let melatonin production kick in and get a good nights sleep.

  4. Yoga, Tai Chi, Meditation are all proven to reduce stress.

  5. Herbal teas such as Chamomile, Tulsi, Peppermint all help to relax and so counter the effects of stress.

  6. Spend time with a pet, your own or a friends.

  7. Massage done on a regular basis start with a couple of weekly ones then go to one per month for maintenance.

  8. Do something that gives you an endorphin rush, like sex, chocolate (moderation here), a good work out or exercise routine.

  9. Walk bare foot on the beach – evidence is building showing we build up a charge and by earthing at the beach we neutralise and reset many systems in our body.

  10. If the beach is to far away get out on the ground in bare feet; on soil, grass, concrete paths.  Asphalt seems to be insulating so go back to the grass or beach.
